Looking for the most popular girls names, or top ten baby boys names? Perhaps the most popular baby names of 2004, or 2004? Or just a source of baby names to choose from? If so, check out the resources at the base of this page, they have the top baby names and more..

Give your child a nice baby name. Not too short or too long, and a baby name that goes well with the surname.

Choose a name that will not make anybody laugh and a baby name that will make him or her proud when they are older. Never underestimate the importance of choosing your baby name. Kids can be so cruel and a child with a strange name can cause misery to your child when it is older. Refrain from choosing trendy names just because you want to be different. Choose a baby name for your baby, not for you.

The search for a baby name starts months before the baby is born. Some parents even have the child names before they have conceived. Some other parents, that think about the decisions a lot more it will take a lot longer; looking for baby names in literature, religious manuscripts ...

Realize that the name is the first special present you give to your baby, it will be his/her identification as a person and it will go with him/her everywhere, so the baby name is got to be picked carefully.

Depending of the origins of some names the meaning changes. For example, Jewish baby names normally mean God or related to God, greek baby names are related with moral qualities and principles and germanic names suggests strength and courage.

Never call your baby a name that isn't really a peersons names, just because it sounds good.
Avoid child names like Happiness, Modesty, etc. It will cause laughs and teasing at school. Remember to be careful with the combination of first name and surname. Short surnames goes well with longer first names and vice versa. And, please avoid any crazy combination like Martin Martin or William Williams, or just any silly ideas like that.

Also remember that fashionable names that have to do with celebrities or television programs will go out of fashion and maybe in twenty years time your child will have to explain that the name is down to a television program at the beginning of the 21st Century ...

It's also not recommended to change the spelling of your baby name to something you think might be trendy. When he/she gets older he will have to spell his name differently to everyone, or remind people constantly the way the name is spell.

Help your baby out by choosing a nice baby name.
