If you would like some information on the topic "Can pregnant women still get period", please read the following paragraphs.

Generally, the question "can pregnant women still get period" can be denied, as the high progesterone level which is due to the embedding of the fertilized egg cell prevents the reduction of the uterus membrane. This results in the non-appearance of the period. Therefore, if the menstruation does not come, this is normally the first indicator for a pregnancy, after a couple had sexual intercourse round about the middle of the woman's cycle and if this cycle is very regular. A pregnancy is not always the reason why the menstruation does not come, but it is the most common one. Some women already have sore breasts and feel sick at this early stage.

Some pregnant women have a light bleeding approx. four weeks after their last period. These bleedings that normally appear on the day when the period is due are not seldom. Generally, any bleeding that occurs during pregnancy should be discussed with the gynaecologist or the midwife as it can be an indicator for an impending miscarriage or a premature birth.

Women with a very low progesterone level might have irregular slight bleedings which normally stop at the end of the first trimester at the latest. Although, these bleedings normally are not to be worried about, a pregnant woman might get very nervous and anxious about loosing her baby. Therefore, a sensitive gynaecologist would prescribe some tablets which contain progesterone in order to raise the woman's progesterone level and stop the bleedings.

But just to come back to the initial question "can pregnant women still get period": The actual monthly period of 7 days does not appear when a woman is pregnant.
