1.) Ovulation does not come
The basic requirement for a pregnancy to happen is a fertile egg cell. But not in a every cycle, an ovulation takes place. Especially, if the pill has been used as the contraceptive, the non-appearance of the ovulation is not unusual. Hormonal disorders and ovary illnesses are other reasons for the non-appearance of the ovulation. In addition, over or underweight and psychological problems can also disturb the hormonal balance. If neither in the temperature curve nor in hormone examinations or ultrasound, an ovulation can be proven, the ovulation can often be triggered off by hormone treatments. Here, the maturing of several egg cells at the same time can often be observed.
2.) The union of the egg cell and the sperm cell cannot take place
If the tubes are too narrow, closed or blocked, the sperms either cannot reach the egg cell or the fertilized egg cell cannot reach the uterus. The damages of the tubes may have been caused either by infections or an operation. In some cases, the tubes can be opened or widened. If this is not possible, there is still the possibility of an in-vitro fertilization.
3.) Incapability of having a child
Abnormal cervical mucus
In some cases, the female cervical mucus produces antibodies against the male sperm cells which are killed.
Abnormalities of the uterus
Some women have a deformed uterus where the shape or the size of the uterus is modified. Even if a fertilization of the egg cell is possible in those cases, the egg cell cannot nest in the uterus and grow. If the progesterone level is too low, this can be one reason why the uterus is not built up sufficiently and why the nesting is prevented. Hormone tablets can solve this problem.
Weakness of the cervix
Although a weakness of the cervix does not prevent the conception to take place, it can cause a miscarriage or a premature birth. Normally, the uterus only opens a few weeks before birth. With a cervix weakness, the uterus opens too early. By an operation, the doctor can artificially close it.
