If you would like to get some information on the topic "can you get pregnant when you are on your period", the following paragraphs might offer you some help.
Normally, the fertile days of a woman with a regular cycle of 28 days are between the 10th and the 16th days after the beginning of the period. This means that there is a good chance for a woman to get pregnant if a couple has sexual intercourse during these days, as the ovulation should be on the 14th day after the beginning of the period. As male sperms have a life expectancy up to a maximum of 5 days and the egg cell remains fertile for 12-24 hours, it is obvious that it is usually only possible to get pregnant during these days, i.e. normally, when the period is completely over.
Therefore, the possibility of the question "can you get pregnant when you are on your period" can almost entirely be dismissed, as long as the woman has a very regular cycle.
But of course, there is a risk that women with a less regular cycle and who do not exactly know when their fertile days are, get pregnant when having sex during their period.
Therefore, in order to not take unnecessary risks in respect of an unwanted pregnancy, women with an irregular cycle who are not sure when they have their fertile days, should make sure that they also use a contraceptive during their period when having sexual intercourse with their partner. Or alternatively, they could also go for sexual practices where no sperms enter the vagina, e.g. oral sex. In this case, the risk of an unwanted pregnancy would be completely avoided.
