In the following paragraphs, you find some information about newborn names which might give you some tips and hints when choosing the name for your baby.
It is the name which identifies us throughout our whole life. The name is mentioned on the telephone, the name is used when we sign documents or letters and when we introduce ourselves. Therefore, the following should take into consideration when choosing the name of your child:
1. The sound of newborn names
The first name and the name should match rhythmically, and there should be a harmonic change between stressed and unstressed syllables.
2. To avoid teasing
Sometimes, even adults have to smile when hearing certain names. But children can be real cruel in this respect. Therefore, parents should think about their children being at school and coming home crying because the others children were making fun of the name.
3. The appearance
Parents should think whether the name will match with the appearance of their newborn baby. If it is obvious for example, that their child will be blond or red-haired, maybe parents should not choose a name which is associated with very dark-haired persons, like Carmen.
4. Think globally
Parents should think about a name which can easily be pronounced correctly in other languages, e.g. a variant of Thomas is known in most of the common languages.
5. Association with celebrities
Certain names like Marilyn, Keanu etc. are associated with prominent people, therefore parents should think carefully wether they want their child to always be related with this celebrity. This is especially the case, if the parents choose a name which might cause some negative associations, like Adolph. Furthermore, a child might present completely different character traits than the namesake it is named after.
